Fight to Survive 4 and 1/2 Stars
Bloodsport

The "kumite" is on! Frank, Ray, and the other major fighters are advancing through the tournament and pummeling those who aren't worthy. It's a rapid fire dose of brutal blows and impressive kung-fu that shows the challenges Frank must take on in order to win.

You know, nothing takes me back to my childhood like fights to the death in a Hong Kong warehouse... Anyway, this is a classic Sports Montage where many, many hours of competition are collapsed into just a few minutes, but without losing the thrill of competition. For fun, compare this montage to the tournament montage in The Karate Kid. One big difference here is the use of blood and screaming Asians. Strangely enough, there is actually very little Jean-Claude Van Damme action in this montage, mostly just the stunt extras beating each other up.
