Dean Profit (Kurt Russell) is a small town handy man hired to work on the closet of ice queen Joanna Stayton's (Goldie Hawn) yacht. But when Joanna stiffs him for the job and later falls off the yacht and wakes up in the hospital with amnesia, Dean sees a way to recoup his losses.

Joanna Stayton is suffering from amnesia and has been convinced by Dean Profit that he is his wife and the mother of his four children. Joanna must now deal with cleaning the disaster area of a house and taking care of four ill-behaved children.
