The best of all time.

While this may lack in technology and special effects, this is the best montage in the history of movies. Still to this day, tourists run up the Philidalphia Art Museum's steps, and this is what started it all. This movie lacked funding, and while this may seem like a bad thing, it's really what sets it apart from all the other montages. If you watch the dvd, and listen to the commentary, you find out exactly how intersting it was to have shot this scene with barely enough money to serve the cast lunches. The part where Rocky dances on the top of the stairs was actually playing in reverse, because by the camraman's mistake, he zoomed out instead of in. Thus, because they couldn't afford to shoot more takes (plus the time of day was just right). Another interesting fact is that the scene of Rocky running up the stairs was the first time a movie used a SteadyCam. |
