While looking for a computer game company, teenage hacker David Lightman stumbles onto a military war simulation computer and wants to play against it. The only problem is the immense security surrounding the system, so he goes looking for information on the system's original designer for clues about a backdoor into the system.
This is the movie that convinced a generation of script kiddies that they could hack. Back then everything was bigger: big phones, big disks, and huge reels of tape. The terminal graphics are strangely current-looking, calling to mind the old adage of if it ain't broke...
But as far as the montage itself goes, its about as exciting as doing research in the library can be. And if somebody asks why Lightman didn't just google the professor, I'm gonna smack you with a drawer from the card catalog.
